Dakota Syke (Eileen Boylan) has always had the ability to literally know if a person is lying to her via subtitles that are visible only to her. Seeing how much people lie has made her bitter and jaded, causing her to give up on life. When she meets Jonah (Ian Nelson), the best friend of her boyfriend, she is intrigued that he apparently never lies to her. She finds this refreshing, as she has never had it before in her life.

After Jonah leaves to live in NYC, Dakota takes a hard look at her life and decides what she wants. She dumps her loser boyfriend, graduates high school, and immediately sets out to NYC to reunite with Jonah. The film ends with them embracing, implying they will get together as a couple now there are no obstacles between them.
