SHORT VERSION:
Kevin almost loses his ticket to Lorenzo at a neighborhood 4th of July party, but the reclusive Jerome – whom Kevin had earlier befriended – comes to Kevin’s aid and knocks Lorenzo out cold with a single uppercut. He then gives Kevin his ticket back and tells him to keep it in a safe place, and then walks away.

The next day, Kevin cashes in the ticket and gets his $374 million, and with it, he pays back the $100,000 he owes Sweet Tee for a loan he had given him, starts his own shoe company, cleans up the neighborhood park (which he renames “Carson Park”, and he makes Jerome the head of park security), and starts up the Carson Foundation with Benny and Stacie, which will help fund businesses, grant scholarships, and change people’s lives overall. As Kevin, Benny, and Stacie leave in a helicopter to go tend to their business, sparks begin to fly between Kevin’s grandmother and Jerome.

LONG VERSION:
The day before the 4th of July, Lorenzo (Gbenga Akinnagbe) gets out of jail, and he eventually finds Kevin (Bow Wow) that night, punches him unconscious, and steals his lottery ticket. The next morning, Kevin wakes up in Jerome’s (Ice Cube) apartment, and Jerome remarks that leaving his place to help Kevin was the first time he stepped outside in 22 years. When he finds out from Kevin that he didn’t sign his ticket, he tells him that Lorenzo can now sign it himself and get the money, and the cops will never believe that he stole it from him. Kevin decides to confront Lorenzo and take back his ticket, but Jerome tells him that the same thing that got him into this whole mess might just get him out of it.

Sweet Tee (Keith David) later pays Kevin a visit and warns him to pay back the $100,000 he owes him or else severe bodily harm will befall him. After Stacie (Naturi Naughton) witnesses this and repeats to Kevin the very same thing that Jerome said to him, Kevin realizes that this whole mess began with Semaj (Charlie Murphy) telling everybody about his ticket, so he goes and gets a fake one printed out and shows it to Semaj, telling him that the ticket Lorenzo stole from him was a fake.

Sure enough, Semaj spreads the word around, and it gets to Lorenzo, who angrily confronts Kevin while he is at a neighborhood barbecue. Sweet Tee then appears and sticks up for Kevin, but when he tries to assert his dominance over Lorenzo, Lorenzo ends up getting the better of him and knocks him out. Lorenzo then beats up Kevin and forces him to hand over his fake ticket by threatening to shoot him, but he then tells Kevin that he is keeping both of the tickets just in case he was lying. Just then, Jerome shows up and knocks Lorenzo out cold with a single uppercut, which garners him much approval from the impressed onlookers. Jerome takes the tickets and gives them back to Kevin, telling him to keep them in a safe place, and then he leaves. Benny (Brandon T. Jackson) and Stacie then make Kevin sign the winning one.

The next day, Kevin cashes in the ticket and gets his $374 million. With the money, he pays back Sweet Tee, starts his own shoe company, and cleans up the neighborhood park and renames it “Carson Park.” At a news conference, Kevin announces that Jerome will be the head of park security, and also, he, Benny (his CEO), and Stacie (his future attorney) have started the Carson Foundation, which will help fund businesses, grant scholarships, and change people’s lives overall. They then leave in Kevin’s new helicopter to go tend to their business, and as they go, Kevin’s grandmother (Loretta Devine) starts flirting with Jerome, which he responds positively to.
