Katharine Graham (Meryl Streep) initially wavers on the Pentagon Papers because The Post is about to go public and she fears losing funding, but when it comes down to it, she goes against her advisors to side with Ben Bradlee (Tom Hanks) and publish the reports.
They become part of the lawsuit against The New York Times and prepare for court. Other newspapers around the country follow Graham’s lead and publish stories about the Papers.
They win the case when the Supreme Court rules 6-3 in their favor. Nixon bans The Post from covering the White House.
Now respected comrades, Graham and Bradlee speculate as to further confrontation with Nixon, which leads to footage of the Watergate break-in being discovered and reported to police.
