Long Ending:
The film opens with a man named Eric Taylor being murdered by a group of priests in Poland.

Carmen (Cindy Sampson) is a reporter whose career is in a tailspin since publishing a controversial article. Her stress is causing difficulties in her relationship with her boyfriend Marcus (Aaron Ashmore) She learns of Eric’s disappearance in Poland and decides to investigate it. Although her editor rejects the story, she presses ahead. Carmen visit’s Eric’s mother and is given access to his recovered luggage. Therein, she finds a journal that tells her the name of the last town in Poland that she visited.

Carmen convinces Marcus and her colleague Sara (Meghan Heffern) to go to Poland with her. They arrive at the town where Eric disappeared and find the townspeople to be very unfriendly. A man named Henryk (Trevor Matthews) tells the trio to leave. But Henryk’s young daughter confirms Eric was there. Instead of leaving, Carmen forces the three to hike to a nearby area shrouded in a supernaturally thick fog.

As Carmen and Marcus argue over what to do, Sara wanders into the fog. When she doesn’t come out, Carmen goes in after her. Both women come upon a demonic shrine in the middle of the fog. The statue of the demon bleeds and moves. It entrances the reporters for some time. The women eventually emerge out from the fog and reunite with Marcus. The three are then found by Henryk’s daughter. The girl leads them to a tomb where they find Eric’s body, along with various others. It is clear Eric and the others were ritually murdered. The three decide to leave ASAP.

The townspeople find and subdue the trio. They are brought to the priests who take custody of the women and send Marcus off with the townspeople. While the townspeople force Marcus to dig his own grave (intending to shoot him when he’s done), the priests put Carmen is a jail cell and tie Sara down to an altar. The priests mutilate Sara’s arms and legs before hammering a spiked mask onto her face, ritually murder her. Meanwhile, Marcus escapes his captors and frees Carmen from her cell. The pair run into the woods.

They come upon a nearby farmhouse. As Marcus ties up the family residing therein (a married couple and a young boy) so they can steal their car and get away, Carmen begins seeing strange visions. She is soon possessed by the demonic spirit from the shrine in the fog. The now demonic Carmen slaughters the family and almost strangles Marcus to death. The priests and Henryk arrive just in time to save Marcus’ life. It is apparent that they were not murdering the people in cold blood, but rather, killing them before they could be possessed.

The demonic Carmen kills one of the priests and the leader. Henryk takes command and manages to subdue Carmen. They are too shorthanded to hammer the mask to her face until Marcus recovers and assists them. Although Carmen makes one last plea for help to Marcus, he holds her head still and Henryk hammers the mask onto her face. This kills Carmen.

Henryk decides to let Marcus go home. Before he leaves, Marcus asks what theshrine in the fog is. Henryk explains that it is the embodiment of a curse that was placed on their land many eons ago and that the curse can never be broken.
