Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets

Lucius Malfoy (Jason Isaacs) snuck the diary of Tom Riddle (Christian Coulson) into Ginny Weasley’s (Bonnie Wright’s) book bucket in Diagon Alley early in the film. The malevolent spirit inhabiting the diary hypnotized her into opening the Chamber of Secrets and writing the bloody meaaages. Riddle had originally been planning to use the basilisk in the Chamber to rid Hogwarts of “mudbloods,” but changed his target when he found out about Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and what had transpired over the last 50 years. You see, his name, Tom Marvolo Riddle, can be anagrammed into “I am Lord Voldemort,” the name he gave himself because he was ashamed of his Muggle father. Riddle/Voldemort traps Harry in a seemingly-inescapable situation, but Harry’s faith in Dumbledore (Richard Harris) sends Fawkes the Phoenix to his rescue, bearing the Sorting Hat. Fawkes blinds the basilisk, protecting Harry from its killing gaze, and the Hat gives Harry the original Gryffindor sword, with which Harry kills the basilisk. Harry then uses a fang from the basilisk to destroy Riddle’s Diary, sending his spirit to oblivion and rescuing Ginny.
