The Pianist
Wladyslaw Szpilman (Adrien Brody) makes it back into the ruined section of Warsaw. He is hiding there when he is discovered by a German officer (Thomas Kretschmann). Rather than turn Szpilman in, the officer helps him by giving him food and a coat. After the Germans are finally beaten back,
Szpilman exits his hiding place, only to nearly be shot by a Polish patrol
because he is wearing the coat of a German officer. Szpilman goes back to
his piano playing; the German officer dies in a Russian prisoner camp.
