Batman & Robin
Mr. Freeze (Arnold) and Poison Ivy (Uma Thurman) end up cellmates atArkam Asylum after Batman (George Clooney), Robin (Chris O' Donnell) and BatGirl (Alicia Silverstone) foil a plan to encase
Gotham City in Ice by using the new Gotham Observatory telescope to beam a
freeze ray everywhere. Bane (Jeep Swenson) is destroyed when BatGirl and
Robin pull the hoses feeding the mutant juice from his head and Bane shrinks
back down to a wimp. After the telescope is destroyed in a tremendous battle
with lots of lights and pyrotechnics, BatGirl manages to reprogram a bunch
of orbiting satellites to reflect sunlight directly onto the city. Gotham
thaws instantaneously. In the midst of all of this chaos, Alfred (Michael
Gough) is dying of MacGregor's syndrome, the same
disease, only less advanced, that Mr. Freeze's cryogenically-frozen wife was
dying from! Batman allows Mr. Freeze to live, because Mr. Freeze has the
cure for Stage 1 of MacGregor's Syndrome, which Alfred has. Mr. Freeze is
allowed to continue his work on a cure for the later stages of the disease
from prison! A petty squabble between Batman and Robin over Poison Ivy is
the film's attempt at dramatic tension.
