Melanie dies, whereabout Scarlett realizes that Ashley has never loved her. Upon realizing this Scarlett returns to Rhett, but is met with him packing his belongings. After a quick discussion, Rhett storms out, ignoring Scarlett's pleas because he believes that Scarlett does not and has never loved him.
His parting words "Frankly my dear, I don't give a damn." leaves Scarlett weeping on the staircase.
She plans to return to Tara and figure out how to win Rhett back, because 'tomorrow is another day.'
