Raou Duke aka Dr. Hunter S Thompson (Johnny Depp) races to get Dr Gonzo aka Oscar Z Acosta (Benicio Del Toro) to the airport after causing too much trouble in Vegas. After almost running into the still catatonic Lucy (Christina Ricci), Duke eventually drives through a field and through a fence to get him to his plane. He retreats to his hotel room which is trashed beyond repair and finishes his writing.

Afterwards Duke skips town without paying his hotel bill and heads back to LA.
