Academy Awards – BEST PICTURE

A young classical music composer named Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (Tom Hulce) completes his last symphony.

Antonio Salieri (F. Murray Abraham), a jealous older rival composer plans to kill Mozart so he can take Mozart’s final composition, “A Funeral Mass” and claim it as his own, but Mozart dies of natural causes before he can complete the “Mass”.

Mrs. Mozart locks the unfinished score in a cabinet and sends Salieri packing.

Salieri ends the movie (and his life) with nothing more than a legacy of his own mediocre and now forgotten compositions.
