Biopic of the former President that starts with the attempted assassination attempt in 1981, and reflecting back on his rise to prominence. Starting as a B-Movie actor, then rising through the President of SAG, FBI informant, Union organizer, Governor of California, and eventually U.S. President, Reagan (Dennis Quaid) divorces his first wife Jane Wyman (Mena Suvari) and marries Nancy Davis (Penelope Ann Miller), who becomes his life partner throughout his political career.

The film is essentially told as a flashback by KGB agent Viktor Petrovich (John Voight). Reagan wins the 1980 Presidential Election and the film details his relationship with Mikhail Gorbachev (Aleksander Krupa) and his foreign policy triumphs over the Soviet Union, as well as his alliance with Margaret Thatcher (Lesley Anne-Down), and his friendship with Tip O’Neil (Dan Lauria) while quickly mentioning his failure to act during the beginning of the AIDS epidemic and the Iran-Contra scandal.

Reagan retires to his ranch and eventually discloses he has Alzheimer’s Disease. After he dies, he lies in state and both Gorbachev and Thatcher pay their respects.
