First showing the area as the home native american people. A story about a native american couple: The Courtship, their family, her death.

Second: Part of the estate of the illegitimate son Benjamin Franklin.

Third: A Family from the early 1900s, in which the husband gets into aviation. His wife fears that he might die in an accident. The husband did indeed die of the flu in 1919.

Fourth: A Bohemian couple. Leo is an inventor, and Stella is a pin-up model. He creates the Lazy Boy Recliner. They move to California.

Fifth: The Young Family. Al (Paul Bettany) and Rose (Kelly Reilly) buy the house in 1945 and have three children: Richard (Tom Hanks), Elizabeth, and Jimmy. Richard marries Margaret (Robin Wright) at 18 due to pregnancy. Eventually, they take over the house from Al and Rose. In the early 2000s, Richard and Margaret divorced.

Sixth: A Black couple inherits the house.

The final scene: A now elderly Richard and Margaret (who has dementia) visiting the empty house, now on the market in 2024.
