The Silent Hour(2024)

The men that are trying to kill Det. Frank Shaw (Joel Kinnaman) and Ava (Sandra Mae Frank) are corrupt cops. Shaw realizes they had an inside man that told them about Ava so she could be silenced. Shaw is able to contact his old partner Doug Slater (Mark Strong) and call for help only to be horrified to learn he is in league with the dirty cops. Shaw pretends to accept a bribe, only to save Ava from an overdose.

As the two cause a fire, bringing cops and firemen, most of the corrupt cops flee. Mason (Mekhi Phifer) and Slater, in too deep, have no choice but to kill them. Shaw and Ava set up a trap involving loud music that startles the two, causing Mason to accidentally kill Slater. Shaw knocks out Mason and carries Ava out of the building, getting her medical attention for her overdose she had been given by Mason. It is inferred that Mason and his men are eventually arrested and charged for their crimes.

The film ends with Shaw going to his daughter’s recital, without his hearing aids, taking in the audience’s response to her, being present in the moment and becoming more at peace with his disability. Ava arrives and sits with him.
