Pooper:
Reze is secretly the Bomb Devil, and is trying to kill Denji so that she can bring his heart to the ultra-powerful Gun Devil. Denji ultimately defeats Reze, but then spares her life and offers to be in a real relationship with her. Although Reze initially rebuffs Denji, she changes her mind and goes to reunite with him. But before Reze can get to Denji, Makima and Angel kill her.

Long Ending:
In this world, humans are under attack by supernatural beings called “devils.” Some devils, however, agree to work with the humans to defend them from their murderous brethren. Denji (voiced by Kikunosuke Toya), a 16 year old boy, has merged with a devil named Pochita to become the very powerful Chainsaw Man (after he transforms, his body is covered in armor and chainsaws erupt out of his head and all four limbs). Denji works for a mysterious devil-hunting entity called the Public Safety Division, led by the enigmatic Makima (voiced by Tomori Kusunoki). Denji’s dream is to one day date and sleep with Makima. She takes advantage of Denji’s attraction (even going on a date with him) to ensure he does whatever she asks. While Denji’s partner Power (voiced by Ai Farouz), a Blood Devil, goes on a trip to heal from past wounds, Makima pairs Denji with a Shark Devil named Beam (voiced by Natsuki Hanae). Makima also asks Aki (voiced by Shôgo Sakata) – the head of Denji’s department and who has allied with a Devil that can see the future – to mentor a new Devil recruit called Angel (voiced by Maaya Uchida). Angel has the power to transform humans into Devil-killing weapons, but due to his depression over all the violence he’s witnessed in his life, refuses to fight or obey orders.

One day, Denji meets a young woman named Reze (voiced by Reina Ueda) who works at a nearby cafe. He gives her a flower, and the two strike up a quick friendship and, eventually, develop romantic feelings. At a festival, Reze proposes that Denji run away with her. She says that the Public Safety Division is taking advantage of Denji and that he should flee with her so they can live a normal teenage life. Denji considers it, but ultimately decides he can’t leave Makima, Aki, and the rest of his friends. Reze then kisses him, but the kiss turns into an attack. It turns out that Reze is secretly a Bomb Demon, able to cause massive combustions at will. She is working for the most feared devil – the Gun Devil – who wants to take Denji’s heart (and power) for itself. Reze almost succeeds in ripping out Denji’s heart, but he is saved by Beam and Aki.

Reze, aided by a Typhoon Devil, goes on a rampage through the city in pursuit of Denji. She slaughters many members of the Public Safety Division, as well as many civilians. After Denji heals, Beam helps him devise ways to utilize his powers so that he can better stand up to Reze. They then attack and kill the Typhoon Devil. The Bomb Devil still proves to be too much, knocking out Beam and overwhelming Denji. However, Denji manages to use his new powers to wrap Reze up in chains and submerge her in water where she can’t use her powers. Rather than kill Reze, Denji takes the unconscious devil to a secluded beach and revives her. Reze mocks Denji for his mercy, saying that all her feelings for him were only an act. Undeterred, Denji says he thinks their feelings were genuine and that she deserves a second chance to live a good life. As Reze flees, Denji calls out that he will wait for for her at the cafe where she used to work. While investigating the incident, members of the Public Safety Division note that Reze was the product of human and Devil experimentation perpetrated by the Russians, and like Denji, never lived a normal teenage life.

The next day, Denji sits at the cafe while Reze waits to board a train to escape. But Reze reconsiders and decides to go meet Denji. Just one block from the cafe, Reze is attacked by Makima. As strong as Reze is, Makima easily incapacitates her. Angel (having been inspired back into action by Aki, and appalled by Reze’s mass murder) then uses a spear he created to kill Reze. In a post-credits scene, a dejected Denji still sits in the cafe alongside a bouquet he bought for Reze. The door opens and in walks Power (all healed). Power demands Denji give her the flowers instead, which he declines to do.
