Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich(2018)

Toulon’s puppets come to life and kill almost everyone at the 30th Anniversary memorial of Toulon’s death, including Markowitz and Ashley. Toulon himself is resurrected as a human-sized demonic doll and escapes into the night. Eddie intimates that he will go after Toulon.

Long Ending:
Years ago, an elderly puppet maker named Andre Toulon (Udo Kier) goes to a bar and is disgusted when he meets a lesbian couple. He returns to his mansion and goes inside a large mausoleum where he commands his puppets to track down and kill the couple. The police manage to track clues for the murder to Toulon’s mansion. They bust in the door and police Officer Doreski shoots the puppet maker dead.

30 years later, a comic book author/artist named Eddie (Thomas Lennon) moves back in with his parents after an acrimonious divorce. He looks through the old bedroom of his brother, who was murdered years earlier under mysterious circumstances. There, he finds a puppet named Blade that was made by Toulon. The puppet has a hook hidden inside one hand and a knife hidden inside the other. Eddie searches online and sees the puppets are now very valuable collectibles. He sees that there is a 30th anniversary memorial at the old Toulon mansion (which has been converted into a hotel), with a puppet auction. Eddie takes Blade to the memorial along with his girlfriend Ashley (Jenny Pellicer) and best friend Markowitz (Nelson Franklin) so that he can try and sell Blade there.

The trio arrive and meet many other collectors and puppet sellers. The guests are given a tour of the old mansion by Officer Doreski (Barbara Crampton). She reveals that Toulon made his fortune as a Nazi before immigrating to the US and constructing his puppets. Toulon maintained his sadism all his life, building secret rooms throughout his mansion where he tortured and killed dozens of people and collected Nazi paraphernalia. Ofter Doreski killed him, Toulon was buried in his mausoleum on the property.

That night, Toulon’s ghostly voice booms forth from his mausoleum and all the puppets awaken. There are about 45 puppets in all collected for the auction. It’s revealed that they were infused with Toulon’s Nazi prejudices and they begin a murder spree, focusing on killing Jews, minorities, and gay hotel guests.

The types of puppets include:

• Blade – trenchcoat with a hook and knife hidden in his hand
• Skullface Blade – A Blade puppet, but with a skull in place of the regular Blade’s face
• Pinhead – A puppet with a small head but large and supernaturally strong body
• Tunneler – A puppet with a drill on his head that allows him to drill through walls and ceilings
• Amphibian – A frog puppet that spits acid
• Money Lender – A stereotype of an old Jewish man
• Mechaniker – A tank like robot puppet
• Grashupfer – A grasshopper puppet that can leap long distances
• Mr. Pumper – A puppet modeled after a toy gas pump that drinks blood and pumps it out his arms
• Autogyro – A robot-like puppet that flies like a helicopter. It’s helicopter blades are razor-sharp.
• Kaiser – A puppet whose arms convert into flamethrowers.
• Junior Fuhrer – A puppet with the visage of a baby Hitler with supernatural strength.

The hotel guests and police eventually learn the puppets are alive and murderous. Many guests try to flee the hotel, but are slaughtered by a puppet ambush in the parking lot. The remaining puppets continue stalking and killing people inside the hotel. Although the guests take out many of the puppets (including Pinhead, various Mechanikers, and Junior Fuhrer who they roast in an oven for revenge). Nonetheless, they are eventually overwhelmed and even kill Officer Doreski and Markowitz.

Eddie and Ashley eventually make it out and after killing an Amphibian puppet, make it into their car. The pair finally declare their love for each other. Eddie then crashes his car into the mausoleum, correctly deducing that the mausoleum is somehow responsible for awakening the puppets. His theory is correct, and the puppets all deactivate after the Mausoleum is smashed. However, to Eddie and Ashley’s horror, a demonic lifesized puppet emerges from within. The puppet is a resurrected Toulon. The resurrected puppet maker beats up Eddie and then shoots and kills Ashley before escaping into the night as more police arrive on the scene. Weeks later, Eddie is seen at a comic convention with a new comic dedicated to Ashley and the others murdered by the puppets. Eddie says the end to his comic is unsatisfying and implies he will continue to hunt down Toulon. A post-credit scene shows the hotel’s bartender survived the attack and has returned home to his wife.

Order of Deaths:

• Bartender and Bartender’s girlfriend– Toulon has one of his puppets garrotte the bartender and behead her as she drives a car. The car crashes, killing the bartender’s girlfriend.
• Andre Toulon – Shot by Officer Doreski in a gunfight.
• Various Hotel guests: (a) Kaiser pops off its hands and kills a Jewish couple by melting them with its flame throwers; (b) while a couple is having sex standing up, Blade slits their achilles tendons, causing them to collapse. He then stabs them in the chest as they lie on the ground; (c) while peeing, an Autogyro flies in and lops off a guy’s head with its helicopter blades. His head falls into the toilet while his body continues to pee all over it; (d) Skullface Blade slices open a guy’s stomach so that his guts fall out, then stabs his eyes; (e) A lesbian guest is found dead in a bathtub full of her own blood; (f) The Money Lender burrows into a pregnant guest’s uterus and bursts out of her stomach. It then walks off holding the dead woman’s fetus; (g) Junior Fuhrer slits open a man’s back and burrows into his body so that he can move the body around like a puppet. Blade and Tunneler ambush the man’s wife, and Blade slits her throat.
• Parking Lot – The puppets ambush guests as they try to flee to their cars. Deaths include: (a) Autogyro slitting open a man’s stomach with his helicopter blades; (b) a woman is scalped by Pinhead, pulling off her scalp with his bare hands; (c) Skullface Blade stabs a man in the face; (d) A man’s head is crushed when Pinhead throws heavy equipment on it; (e) Autogyro slices off the hands of a young kid and then kills the kid offscreen.
• Police officer – Pinhead pulls his arm off and he gorily bleeds to death.
• Three random guests/police – The man’s corpse who is being puppeted by Junior Fuhrer shoots three guests and police before the others manage to remove the baby puppet from the corpse’s body and throw it into an oven.
• Markowitz – Blade leaps down from a hole in the ceiling and stabs Markowitz in the throat.
• Nerissa (cameo by Charlyne Yee) – Eddie and Ashley escape by jumping from a hotel window into a dumpster below. Nerissa tries to follow, but she misjudges the jump. Instead of landing on the soft trash bags, she hits the side of the dumpster, which breaks her body and cracks open her skull.
• Officer Doreski – Skullface Blade leaps on her from above and impales her with his hook hand.
• Howie – Killed offscreen by Grasshupfer
• Ashley – Shot in the head by the resurrected puppet Toulon.
