SHORT VERSION:
Sweeney kills Beadle and Judge Turpin.
Sweeney realizes the old lady beggar he killed was his wife.
Mrs. Lovett lied and let Sweeney think his wife was dead because she wanted to marry him herself.
Sweeney locks Mrs. Lovett in her oven and she dies.
Toby kills Sweeney as he holds his dead wife’s body.

LONG VERSION:
Sweeney Todd arrives in London on a ship with Anthony young sailor. Sweeny is seeking revenge – 16years ago Judge Turpin sent Benjamin, a barber, away on a false charge so he could ravish Sweeney’s beautiful wife. Mrs. Lovett owns meat pie shop below old barber shop, recognizes Sweeney. and tells him the beautiful wife poisoned herself after Judge Turpin used her, and Turpin has raised Sweeney’s little girl Johanna as his ward. Sweeney challenges Pirelli to shaving contest and wins. Pirelli is really english, recognizes who Sweeney really is and tries to blackmail him. Sweeney kills him, and Mrs. Lovett gets idea to use the body in meat pies. Mrs. Lovett takes in Pirelli’s young assistant Toby to help her in the shop.  Old lady beggar in neighborhood knows something is wrong, people go in barbershop and some never come out.

Anthony sees Johanna and falls in love. Turpin sends her away to insane asylum, Anthony finds her and Sweeney tells him to pretend to be wigmaker apprentice to get in and free her. Sweeney sends note about this to Turpin to lure him to Sweeney’s barber shop. Anthony brings Johanna, dressed as a boy, to barber shop to hide while he gets a coach to take them out of the city. Sweeney kills Beadle and Judge Turpin, but old lady beggar comes in and sees Sweeney covered in blood. Sweeney kills her since she is now witness. Sweeney almost kills Johanna but Mrs. Lovett calls him to pie shop – Toby has figured out where the meat comes from.  Sweeney realizes the old lady beggar he killed was his wife. Mrs. Lovett lied and let Sweeney think his wife was dead because she wanted to marry him herself. Sweeney locks Mrs. Lovett in her oven and she dies. Toby kills Sweeney as he holds his dead wife’s body. We assume, but do not see, Anthony take Johanna away
