William Wilberforce (Ioan Gruffudd) marries Barbara and she encourages him to renew his fight for the abolition of slaves.

Wilber brings together his old friends, including Lord Fox (Michael Gambon) and the “revolutionary” preacher, Clarkson (Rufus Sewell).

They decide the second time around to cheat and introduce a bill that will, in a roundabout way, legally allow slave ships to be seized by privateers. Wilber’s friend, William Pitt, helps them get it through Parliament.

Within two years 80% of the owners of the slave business have gone out of business, and finally Wilber successfully gets the abolition of slavery passed through Parliament.
