Harvey Keitel is a corrupt cop who is addicted to gambling and drugs.

Keitel begins to lose big bets when the Mets overcome a 3-0 deficit with the Dodgers.

Assigned to investigate the rape of a nun, he is baffled that she has forgiven her assailants.

Keitel finds the rapists but rather than collect the reward and deal with his gambling debt, he gives them money and sends them out of town.

He is then shot to death because of his gambling debt.
