Dutch(1991)

With a “little” big help from his mother’s stubborn fiance, Dutch Dooley (Ed O’Neill) -as well as a road trip in between, plagued with several savory and unsavory situations-, young Doyle Standish (Ethan Embry) goes from a spoiled, unsufferable brat, to a down-to-earth, level-headed, likeable young man who does want to be with his mom, Natalie (JoBeth Williams) for the Holidays. He meets her and embraces her lovingly.
Also, Dutch teaches Doyle’s pretentious dad, Reed (Christopher McDonald), a lesson, when he threatens Natalie to leave her on the street because Doyle refused to join him for the Holidays; Dutch punches Reed in his forehead with a gold ring, and this renders Reed woozy; he gets his lesson, promises to leave Natalie and Doyle alone, and drives off.
In the end, when they are about to have their Thanksgiving meal together, Dutch finally gets his chance to get even at Doyle for shooting him in the butt at the beginning of the movie… the same way. The screen goes black and we hear Doyle scream in pain.
