Over the duration of the holiday, the marriages of Rose (Miranda Richardson) and Frederick (Jim Broadbent) & Mellersh (Alfred Molina) and Lotti (Josie Lawrence) are rejuvenated. Caroline and George fall in love. Mrs. Fisher (Joan Plowright) finds herself a new family to care for. Everyone leaves the castle happy and revitalized.
