Even though he’s far too old to be a lifeguard, Rick (Sam Elliott) turns down the offer to become a Porsche salesman, and chooses to keep his happy, laid-back life as a beach bum.
He knows this decision will probably cost him the love of Cathy (Anne Archer), but he can’t give up the carefree lifestyle he’s gotten used to.
