Submitted by Spectre
John Breaker (Neal McDonough) served with Virgil “The Saint” Denis (Casper Van Dien) in The Civil War with their sons. When Virgil’s son is killed in battle, he briefly deserts to kill the man who killed his son. John is tasked with capturing Virgil and hanging him for desertion. However, understanding why he did what he did, John lets him go, giving him a second chance at life.
Years later, his son Cal (Steven R. McQueen), tells him of a warrant he has for the arrest of Virgil, asking for his father’s help. Breaker, guilt ridden knowing his mercy has allowed Virgil to cause havoc and commit numerous murders, joins his son’s posse to bring him to justice. Cornering Virgil at a farmhouse, they are able to subdue or kill all his men, though Deputy Shanks (Greg Perrow) dies in the process. However, Breaker learns that one of Virgil’s crew, Stacey (Roxana Dunlop), turns out to be an undercover U.S. agent and Cal’s lover, who joins to help them.
At the climax of the film, Breaker beats Virgil in a fight and though he is goaded into killing him, refuses, and tells him he will face justice under the law. Breaker goes home to his wife Bonnie (Annabeth Gish) and happily learns his son is engaged to Stacey as the two head back to Washington D.C.
