Tron: Ares(2025)

Eve Kim (Greta Lee) has taken over ENCOM after Sam Flynn has resigned and disappeared. Following the death of her sister and co-CEO Tess, Eve has been looking for the Permanence Code to help change the world, while rival CEO Julian Dillinger (Evan Peters) of Dillinger Systems wants the code for his program, Ares (Jared Leto), a highly advanced Master Control, which is designed to be the ultimate expendable super soldier, but he cannot stay outside The Grid for more than 29 minutes. Eve succeeds in getting the code, so Julian sends Ares after her. In his pursuit of Eve, Ares learns of her relationship with her sister and the grief she felt over her loss, while also acknowledging that Julian could delete him permanently for straying from his directive.

Ares joins forces with Eve on the condition that she help him acquire the Permanence Code for himself, leading Julian to send another program, Athena, to go after them. Eve and her colleague Seth send Ares into Kevin Flynn’s original version of the Grid, where the code is contained. Athena kills Julian’s mother Elisabeth after she tries to retake control of the company and stop her from going after Eve. Meanwhile, Ares meets a program of Flynn, who is fascinated by what Ares has learned outside of his programming and his desire to live. Flynn gives him the code so he can return to the real world and actually live.

Seth is joined by coworkers Ajay and Erin as they try to hack into the Dillinger Grid and stop Athena. She succeeds in capturing Eve, but Ares fights her until the team is able to disable the Grid, and Athena is de-rezzed for good. Eve and Ares part ways as she continues to use the code for good, while he is searching for Sam and Quorra. Meanwhile, Julian avoids being arrested by sending himself into what’s left of his Grid and he finds his grandfather’s armor for the Sark program.
