Joe (Ewan McGregor) kills his girlfriend Cathie (Emily Mortimer). He then works for Les Gault (Peter Mullan) and becomes his wife’s lover (Tilda Swinton). When Cathie’s body is found floating in the river, another man is accused and sentenced to death. No one ever suspects Joe.
