As the voyage goes on, it becomes obvious that the travelers will miss the deadline. Upon finishing the trip in a time that they think is a few hours too late, they retire for a long-deserved rest. Fogg (David Niven) awakes to the realization that that they “gained” a day due to crossing the International Date Line. He rushes to make it to the club, and arrives barely on time to win the wager
