Danny (Leonardo DiCaprio) and Solomon (Djimon Honsou) eventually find the blood diamond, but Danny dies of gunshot wounds shortly after.

Solomon and the reporter, Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly) set up the nefarious diamond company by pretending to sell the diamond to them. This exposes the corruption of the diamond company and their complicity in the atrocities committed in Africa for the blood diamonds.

The film ends with Solomon speaking to a council about his experiences as a victim of the diamond trade.
