SHORT VERSION:
The Ikes of Marketropolis and Brand X eventually get into a huge battle that ultimately sees the Ikes emerge triumphant when they put lightning rods made of aluminum foil up on top of their brands’ buildings and then generate a lightning storm, which causes the bolts to strike the unprotected Brand X buildings and destroy them. During the battle, Dex heads to Lady X’s headquarters and cuts off the supply of poison fueling her flying army of X-o-bytes before heading up to the penthouse to confront her, and there, he discovers that Lady X and General X are holding Sunshine captive, revealing that Lady X was the one who kidnapped her. Dex defeats General X and saves Sunshine, but Lady X escapes and disappears. Dex then notices that Sunshine’s appearance doesn’t look quite right, and she explains that Lady X has taken her essence, which he realizes is the unknown-but-familiar main ingredient in Brand X’s elixir.

After Dex and Sunshine are saved by Dan and get to the ground, Mr. Clipboard – the human Brand X representative – suddenly appears, having somehow managed to enter the Ikes’ world. Dex and a couple of the other Ikes make him trip and fall, and after he hits the ground, his head splits open, revealing him to be a robot, and Lady X is discovered to be the pilot. It is then revealed that she is a disguised Priscilla Pusley, the ugly Ike for Priscilla Pusley’s Genetically Giant Prunes, which had the worst sales in the history of Marketropolis. She was jealous of Sunshine Goodness Raisins (her neighbor on the shelf) and her sales, so she created Mr. Clipboard so she could enter the real world, then got a makeover, founded Brand X Industries, and ordered a recall on both hers and Sunshine’s products. She then kidnapped Sunshine and stole her essence to make her elixir for Brand X. Lady X then attacks Dex with the intention of killing him, but since his personal code of conduct prohibits him from hitting women, he won’t fight back. Sunshine thus steps in and dukes it out with Lady X, and she whups her so badly that her appearance changes back into Priscilla’s. Dex has Dan take both her and Brand X to the Expiration Station for recall, and then Dr. Nustrix appears and tells Dex that he has come up with an antidote for Brand X’s poison that will revive all of the Ikes that Brand X has killed. After commending the Ikes for their bravery in battle, Dex finally proposes marriage to Sunshine, and she happily accepts.

The movie ends with Dex and Sunshine getting married at the CopaBanana Club and then celebrating with the other Ikes.

LONG VERSION:
Shortly after Dex Dogtective saves Daredevil Dan from getting killed by Lady X at her headquarters, they spot Lady X creating a flying robotic army of X-o-bytes, and they also take notice of some large tubes containing the same oily liquid that Brand X used to kill some of their fellow Ikes (food icons) with the night before. Dex realizes that Brand X is planning to take over all of Marketropolis, but having been disheartened ever since Sunshine Goodness vanished, he tells Dan that he doubts that he can take on this threat. Dan encourages him to believe in himself, and he also tells him that, if Sunshine were here, she would believe in him. His confidence boosted, Dex tells Dan that he has an idea, but a really dangerous one, and then he and Dan depart.

The duo pays a visit to Dr. Si Nustrix, and Dex gives him a sample of the Brand X elixir that he managed to steal from Lady X and tells him to analyze it. Once his tests have concluded, Dr. Nustrix tells Dex and Dan that, while he cannot fully identify the elixir’s main ingredient, he has learned that the elixir itself is highly addictive and toxic. Dex thus decides that he needs to head over to the office of Mr. Leonard, the supermarket’s owner, and access his computer so he can send this information to Marketropolis’ corporate headquarters via email and hopefully motivate them to recall Brand X. However, Dr. Nustrix reminds him that Mr. Leonard’s office is in the Expiration Station at the other end of the supermarket, and he and Dan will not be able to get there before the place opens. Despite the danger involved in going through the store while humans are shopping in it, Dex decides that he and Dan will just have to take their chances and make the journey, feeling that they and all of the remaining Ikes will not be able to survive another night. As Dex and Dan make their way through the store over the course of the day, they enter the freezer section and notice Polar Penguin in there, so Dex tells him to warn the remaining Ikes that Brand X is behind the rubout and that he must bring as many Ikes as he can to his CopaBanana Club tonight. When he and Dan get to the Expiration Station after closing time, they encounter Vlad Chocool, and he decides to join them on their mission after explaining to them that Brand X unsuccessfully tried to poison him (the attempt failed because he is a vampire and thus undead).

Dex gets to the computer and explains to its Ike, Blue, why he is here, then gets her to fetch him a recall notice. Just then, some Brand X Ikes under the command of General X seal the office door with wood glue, so Dex orders Dan and Vlad to find loose vent grates to escape through while he continues on with the computer. After scanning the forms, Blue shows Dex that there are two recalls on file: Priscilla Pusley’s Genetically Giant Prunes (which had the worst sales in the history of Marketropolis) and Sunshine Goodness Raisins, and Brand X Industries ordered both recalls. Dex orders Blue to send a notice recalling all of Brand X’s products, but as the process is underway, General X shuts down the power to the computer. Dex then decides that, since they can’t count on corporate headquarters to save them, he and the other Ikes will just have to deal with Brand X themselves. He, Dan, and Vlad escape the office through a vent, and they get to the CopaBanana Club just as General X and his soldiers are threatening all of the Ikes present. After Dex and the others tell General X that they aren’t backing down from Brand X, he leaves with his men, but he vows to return and pulverize them.

Just before the final battle commences, Dex tells the other Ikes that he has a plan, but we only hear him mention that they will need all of the aluminum foil in the store for it. Suddenly, one of the Ikes warns Dex that the Brand X army is marching towards the CopaBanana, so Dex stands on the roof of one of the buildings to get Lady X’s attention. When she spots him, she orders a few battalions to head to his location, but the battalions wind up marching right into an enclosed area, giving Dex and the Ikes a chance to bombard them with food until they are defeated. However, the Ikes then find themselves facing the rest of the Brand X army, who are greater in numbers and artillery, and they continue their advance towards the CopaBanana while blasting everything on the ground and in the air. After ordering the Ikes to head to the club, Dex approaches Maximilius Moose outside of it and tells him to initiate the second phase of his plan, part of which involves sneaking through the sewers into enemy territory and cutting their power lines in order to start a lightning storm. When Maximilius proves to be too big to go down the manhole, Cheasel T. Weasel appears and offers to do the job instead, since his skinny, elastic-like physique makes him better suited for it. Then, as the other part of the plan’s second phase, the Ikes construct lightning rods out of the aluminum foil and place them on top of their brands’ buildings. Shortly afterwards, Dex sees several more Ikes getting wiped out by Brand X’s poison, so he orders Dr. Nustrix to come up with an antidote for it that will hopefully bring them back to life. He then meets up with Dan outside the CopaBanana, and after Dan complains that phase two of the plan isn’t going to work because they are getting swarmed by the X-o-bytes, Dex notices that the X-o-bytes refuel their poison at Lady X’s building. He thus has Dan fly him over there so he can cut off their poison supply and hopefully turn the tide of the battle.

Moments later, Cheasel cuts Brand X’s power lines and initiates the lightning storm, and the lightning bolts destroy Brand X’s buildings while the Ikes’ buildings are kept safe thanks to the lightning rods. After parachuting from Dan’s airplane and landing close to Lady X’s building, Dex sneaks into the factory and wipes out the poison supply, then heads up to the penthouse to face Lady X. To his surprise, he finds Sunshine being held captive there by Lady X and General X, having been kidnapped by the former all those months ago. Before she flees due to the lightning inflicting heavy damage on her building, Lady X orders General X to kill both Dex and Sunshine with his poison-filled gun. Thankfully, Dex – with an assist from Sunshine – gets the better of General X and makes him stick himself with his own weapon, causing him to collapse. Dex then unties Sunshine, and after noticing that her appearance doesn’t look quite right, she tells him that Lady X has taken her essence, which Dex realizes is the unknown main ingredient in Brand X’s elixir. They are then rescued by Dan before the building comes crumbling down.

After they land on the ground, Mr. Clipboard – the human Brand X representative – suddenly appears, having somehow managed to enter the Ikes’ world. Dex orders Dan to find Lady X, and then – with the help of Maximilius and Lola Frutola – he trips Mr. Clipboard with a tripwire. After he hits the ground, his head splits open down the center, revealing him to be a robot, and Lady X is discovered to be the pilot. She then reveals herself to be a disguised Priscilla Pusley, who was Sunshine’s old neighbor on the supermarket’s shelves until she ordered the recall on her own product. She had grown jealous of Sunshine and her sales, so she built Mr. Clipboard in order to enter the real world, where she got a makeover, founded Brand X Industries, and then had Sunshine’s brand recalled along with her own before kidnapping Sunshine and stealing her essence to make her elixir for Brand X. She then attacks Dex with the intention of killing him, but since Dex’s personal code of conduct prohibits him from hitting women, he won’t fight back. Sunshine thus steps in and dukes it out with Lady X, and she ends up whupping her so badly that her appearance changes back into Priscilla’s. Dex has Dan take both her and Brand X to the Expiration Station for recall, and then Dr. Nustrix appears and tells Dex that he has come up with an antidote that will revive all of the dead Ikes. After commending the Ikes for their bravery in battle, Dex finally proposes marriage to Sunshine, and she happily accepts.

The movie ends with Dex and Sunshine getting married at the CopaBanana and then celebrating with the other Ikes.
