Fort Apache(1948)

Lt. Colonel Thursday’s (Henry Fonda) attack on the Apache is an utter catastrophe. Thursday and most of his men are killed.

Captain Kirby York (John Wayne), 2nd Lt. Michael Shannon O’Rourke (John Agar) and the supply troops are not killed by Cochise (Miguel Inclan) since Captain York dealt fairly with Cochise in the past.

Later, Col. York now commands the regiment. A painting falsely depicts a gallant death for Col. Thursday and his regiment, a lie that Col. York does not dispute to reporters.

Lt O’Rourke and Philadelphia (Shirley Temple) are now married and have a son. The regiment, commanded by Col. York, departs to do battle once again.
