The whole plot was a scam by Ben Wills’ son to lure Julie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) and her friends to Paradise Island in order to get revenge!

In the end Julie shoots Ben Willis (Muse Watson) in the chest with a gun but he comes back anyways and finally grabs her and the screen goes black with Julie screaming.
