Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens(2015)

POOPER:
Kylo Ren is Ben Solo, son of Han and Leia. Han confronts him in the Starkiller base but Ren kills him before going after Finn and Rey. In a rage over Han’s death, Chewbacca triggers the detonator, setting off the charges in the reactor, allowing Poe Dameron and the Rogue Squadron to blast it more, causing a meltdown in the core of the planet.
The Force Awakens in Rey as she discovers her ability to face Ren with the blue lightsaber used by the Skywalkers since Episode III. She grazes Ren across the face before the planet housing the Starkiller laser starts to collapse.
Chewie saves Finn and Rey and returns them to the Resistance base, where R2-D2 and BB-8 merge their maps to Luke Skywalker’s location.
Rey takes Chewbacca and R2 with her to the uncharted planet and meets Luke.
LONGER VERSION:
Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), an X-Wing pilot for the Resistance, meets with Lor San Tekka (Max von Sydow) on planet Jakku to retrieve the uncharted map showing the location of Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill). He stores it in his trusty droid BB-8. Tekka’s campsite/village is then attacked by Storm Troopers of the First Order under the command of Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and Dark Side user named Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) who is determined to find Skywalker. One of the Troopers, FN2187 (John Boyega), has a change of heart and decides not to murder innocent civilians. Tekka and the rest of the villagers are killed, Dameron is taken prisoner, and BB-8 escapes to the desert.
A scavenger named Rey (Daisy Ridley) scours the desert planet for scrap metal and parts to trade for food portions, but the traders never offer her an entire portion. She finds and befriends BB-8, she is even able to understand him.
Kylo Ren uses the Force to extract the location of the map from Dameron, and sends troops to find BB-8 on Jakku. FN2187 frees Dameron (who tells him he is with the Resistance and renames him Finn) and they escape in a TIE Fighter, which crash lands on Jakku. Finn wakes up, having been jettisoned from the fighter in a parachute. Believing Dameron has died in the crash, Finn takes his jacket as the TIE Fighter sinks below the sands.
Finn stops two thieves from stealing BB-8 from Rey. He tells her he is a Resistance fighter, but BB-8 knows he is lying because he sees Finn wearing Dameron’s jacket. Storm Troopers arrive and begin to sack the village in search of BB-8. Rey and Finn steal the Millennium Falcon from the shipyard, but are immediately captured by a freighter being piloted by Han Solo and Chewbacca (Harrison Ford and Peter Mayhew), who are bringing 3 giant beasts to another planet so they can pay back some gangsters. Two gangs commandeer the freighter, but the beasts are let loose and the crew consisting of Han, Chewie, Rey, Finn, and BB-8, take the Falcon to the planet Takodana for repairs. A pirate alerts the First Order that Han Solo has joined the droid.
The crew meet with Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong’o) who tells them how to get to the Resistance in order to face First Order, but Finn wants to run and not engage them, blowing his cover as a Resistance fighter. At the same time, BB-8’s location is transmitted to both the First Order and the Resistance. Rey hears a calling and discovers the lightsaber of the Skywalkers in Maz Kanata’s vault. She has a vision of the destruction and pain it has caused and becomes extremely fearful of its power. Maz, though not a Jedi, is aware of the Force, and tells Rey it is calling to her. Rey resists the gift of the lightsaber and runs away.
On Starkiller Base, a planet with a solar energy laser built into it, Kylo Ren pleads with the charred helmet of Darth Vader to learn the power of the Dark Side. He is later told via holoprojection by his master Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) that he must kill his father Han Solo if he is to become more powerful with the Dark Side of the Force. To show that theirs is the only power the galaxy should know, the Starkiller destroys a system that contains many planets governed by the new Republic and that house the seat of the Galactic Senate.
The crew see the destruction in space from Takodana and are soon attacked by the First Order, having answered the tipoff. They are saved by Resistance fighters led by Dameron, who survived the crash after all (thanks for spoiling that part, trailers and marketing campaign). Rey is taken prisoner by Kylo Ren and brought to Starkiller Base for questioning. Finn changes his mind about running, takes the lightsaber, and together with Han and Chewie follows Dameron and BB-8 to the planet D’qar where they reunite with General Leia (Carrie Fisher) and C-3PO (Anthony Daniels). R2-D2 is seen in self-deactivation since Luke left. The Resistance details the structure of the Starkiller Base and how to destroy it by overloading the core reactor after the shields are brought down. Han, Chewie, and Finn volunteer to lead the rescue mission to lower the shields and get back Ren, who is discovered to be Han and Leia’s son.
Rey is able to resist Ren’s power of the Dark Side, but she is able to use the Force to get a Storm Trooper to free her and give her his weapon. Finn and Chewie manage to capture Captain Phasma, and get her to lower the shields manually. Han calls out to “Ben,” the birth name of Kylo Ren, who tells his father that he wants to know the ways of the Force before killing Han with his lightsaber. Enraged, Chewie sets off the bombs that they placed around the reactor’s hull, damaging it further and allowing Dameron and the Rogue Squadron to fire some more direct shots into the reactor core, causing the meltdown that will lead the Starkiller Base’s destruction. Ren confronts Rey on the surface of the planet, and is temporarily held off by Finn, who activates the lightsaber but is no match for Ren, even though he does manage to wound him. The Force awakens within Rey as she takes up the lightsaber and fights briefly with Ren before the planet begins to break apart, signaling the imminent destruction of Starkiller Base. Chewie picks up Rey and Finn and flies them back to D’qar, where BB-8 wakes up R2-D2 to combine their maps to show the uncharted region where Luke Skywalker has been in hiding since his student Kylo Ren turned on him.
Rey flies out to the planet with Chewbacca and R2 and meets Luke on top of a mountain. She hold out what was once his lightsaber.
