The Marvels(2023)

A Kree supremacist called Dar-Benn (Zawe Ashton) blames Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) for the downfall of her homeworld Hala after Carol destroyed the Supreme Intelligence, leading to a Kree Civil War. Dar-Benn finds a Quantum Band, which is one half of a pair that is also in possession by Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani). When Dar-Benn activates her band, it causes an entanglement between Carol, Kamala, and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris), who gained light energy powers after “WandaVision”.

Dar-Benn’s ultimate goal is to siphon off energy from worlds personal to Carol to restore Hala. She first attacks a Skrull sanctuary called Tarnax and steals their atmosphere, before going to the planet Aladna where Carol was made princess to steal their water supply. Her last target is Earth’s sun, which leads the three heroes (“The Marvels”) to work with Nick Fury to save the SABER team, as well as Kamala’s family. The trio battle Dar-Benn and almost defeat her, but she steals Kamala’s bangle to open the last jump point in space and time, and the energy from the bands destroys Dar-Benn. Carol and Kamala transfer energy to Monica so she can close the portal, but she ends up trapped on the other side.

Carol helps restore Hala’s sun using her energy, while Kamala starts to form the Young Avengers, beginning with Kate Bishop (Hailee Steinfeld). Meanwhile, Monica ends up in the universe of the original “X-Men” films, where her mother Maria is now a mutant called Binary.
