The Campaign(2012)
Submitted by James C
Marty Huggins (Zach Galifianakis) is leading in the campaign but finds out the Motch Brothers (John Lithgow & Dan Aykroyd) who are funding his campaign are only looking to him so they can win approval to build factories within the district he is running for, and build Chinese sweat shops saving money on shipping the products from overseas. Marty leaves the brothers looking for options and they decide to get involved with funding and campaigning his opponent Cam Brady (Will Ferrell).
Huggins tries a last ditch effort to reveal to the public all his secrets and to be an honest politican but eventually loses the campaign despite exit polls having him ahead. Shots of the voting machines shows the equipment is owned by the Motch Brothers hinting at vote rigging. Brady despite winning finds himself at odds with the way he went about winning and his role as a potician, resigns and hands the role to Marty.
In the end credits, the Motch Brothers are called to a hearing on Capitol Hill. They are able to escape any issues on their large spending on the political campaigns thanks to the Citizens United ruling but Marty reveals that the campaign manager they hired for Marty – Tim Wattley (Dylan McDermott) was a wanted greek criminal and they are arrested to face charges.
