While Jamal (Godfrey) and Dexter (James C. Leary) are nearing the end of their failed pursuit of a nine-to-five job, film director Spike Leroy (Dale Stelly) – whom Jamal and Dexter auditioned for earlier that day through a misunderstanding – decides to hire the duo onto his movie, since principal photography ends that day and he needs to shoot one last scene in order to make the film 82 minutes long so the distributors will give him a $1 million advance on it. One of his producers calls their agent, Ramon (Roberto Sanchez), and tells him that he wants Jamal and Dexter on his film, and Ramon in turns rings up Dexter and gives him and Jamal the good news.
Ramon picks up the guys in his limousine 20 minutes later and tells them that they will be working with Spike Leroy, and he has a five-picture deal waiting on the table for them if they do well. After arriving on the set and signing the necessary papers, Jamal and Dexter hurry to get their checks cashed so they can pay their rent on time, along with the other due bills that they have.
A month later, Jamal and Dexter are seen watching the premiere of Leroy’s film with the cast and crew. As it comes to an end, Dexter asks Jamal if he has his half of this month’s rent ready, and Jamal replies that he doesn’t, to which Dexter admits that he doesn’t have his half, either. However, they are still all smiles because their acting careers have finally made progress.
