Even though Daisy (Jessica Tandy) was hard on Hoke (Morgan Freeman) they became best friends.

At the end of the movie, Miss Daisy Werthan (Jessica Tandy) is partially senile and living in a nursing home. Hoke (Morgan Freeman), now retired, is the only friend she has left. He and her son Booley (Dan Aykroyd) are her only visitors.

The movie closes with Hoke tenderly feeding the incapacitated Miss Daisy.
