Short pooper:
Grace (Jennifer Lawrence) starts a fire and walks into it, presumably dying in it.

Longer version:
The isolation, coupled with the unsolved issues with her husband Jackson (Robert Pattinson) -him apparently cheating on her with other women while off at work, their unnamed newborn she has shown some difficulty to bond with, and him just being distant and indifferent at her situation which leads to arguments-, takes a severe toll on Grace’s mental well-being. She alienates her mother-in-law Pam (Sissy Spacek), kills a pet dog Jackson had previously brought home, dangerously twirls knives around the house and even throws herself against a glass pane for no reason.

Despite all this, Jackson asks Grace to marry him and she agrees; their wedding night, however, goes south when he rebuffs her romantic attempts and leaves her alone in the bridal suite, which leads to her requesting a bottle of champagne and eventually bash her head against a mirror and then walk home while strolling her child. When Jackson catches wind of this, after scolding her, he decides to have her committed.

While at the institution, discussing her personal issues seems to have a good effect on her and she is released shortly after, but seeing how much things further changed in her absence -including that Jackson decided to name their son HARRY after his late father- sends her over the edge, especially upon a welcome back party thrown for her. Jackson forces her to go for a drive with him; she claims “he doesn’t see her” and “she doesn’t want to return” -the implication being she is emotionally beyond redemption-.

After pulling over by a forest and just being there in silence for a little while, she takes her journal she had been keeping while committed, kisses Jackson and walks into the forest. Too late he realizes that she sets fire to the journal, gets naked and throws the dress in it and, as he runs to catch up with her, sees in horror how the fire has quickly grown… AND SHE THROWS HERSELF INTO IT, as the movie ends.
