Juana (Diana Elizabeth Torres) is accepted into a sushi making competition. As the only woman and non-Asian competing, she is looked down by the other contestants and by those who run the contest. In spite of this, she is able to hold her own and sometimes surpass the skills of the other chefs.

In the end, she does not win, placing 2nd. However, she earns the respect of the other contestants and Mr. Yoshida (Roji Oyama) the owner of the restaurant she previously worked at. A short time later, Mr. Yoshida comes into his restaurant for dinner. Behind the counter is Juana, who he has hired as a full fledged sushi chef, having been impressed by her efforts. He orders dishes she created (her items becoming favorites of the customers) and they toast her recent successes with sake.
