Pooper:
The heroes survive the attack by the evil animatronics set into motion by William Afton’s son Michael. The souls of the murdered children from the first film help save the heroes and are freed to move on into the afterlife. Mike says he can no longer trust Vanessa given her secrets and her family connection to the Aftons, and tells her to leave his family alone. As Mike and Abby walk away, Vanessa is possessed by the Marionette. Meanwhile, the animatronic bunny Springtrap, which houses the soul of William Afton, comes to life.

Long Ending:
In a flashback, we open on the original location of the Freddy’s franchise – Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria. This pizza place/amusement park has a water ride and an additional animatronic character called the Marionette. The Marionette puppet uses wireless signals to control the other animatronics – including Toy Freddy (voiced by Kellen Goff), Toy Chica (voiced by Megan Fox), Toy Bonnie (voiced by Matthew Patrick (aka MatPat)), and Mr. Cupcake. Toy Foxy was part of the group, but the animatronic was taken out of commission when the restaurant’s owner/secret child killer William Afton (Matthew Lillard) allowed the guests to disassemble it for fun (and the animatronic is now a deformed ronbot referred to as Mangle). A socially awkward young girl named Charlotte (Audrey Lynn Marie) particularly loves Marionette. While waiting for Marionette to arise from below the stage, she sees a young kid get abducted by William (who is wearing the Spring Bonnie suit that he is killed inside of in the first film). Charlotte tries to get the adult guests to help her look for the abducted child, but they all ignore her pleas (assuming she is just acting weird or lying). With no other choice, Charlotte follows William and tries to rescue the young boy when William is distracted. William pursues Charlotte and stabs her several times in the back. But Charlotte manages to stumble out into the restaurant area and reunites the kid with his parents. She then lets out a scream of rage as she dies from her wounds, angry that none of the adults helped her. Charlotte’s rage-filled soul then possesses the Marionette animatronic. The crime was covered up and, although the Pizzeria is closed, William successfully launches other Freddy’s locations (including the restaurant from the first film), but without the Marionette animatronic.

Jumping to the present, Vanessa (Elizabeth Lail) – William Afton’s daughter who helped kill him in the last film – is out of her coma and trying to start her life anew. She struggles with dreams and visions of William, where he says Vanessa will always belong to him and that he has a plan for her (implying she is destined to possess one of his unused secret animatronics called Circus Baby). Vanessa gets support from Mike (Josh Hutcherson), and the pair have tentatively started dating. Although Mike is doing a good job providing a stable home life for his younger sister Abby (Piper Rubio), he continually lies to her by saying he’ll one day restore the animatronics that housed the souls of the dead children William killed (which included their brother Garrett). In reality, the animatronics were so shattered in their battle with William that he can’t restore them. Suspecting Mike isn’t being honest with him, and missing her friends (the souls of the murdered children), Abby has enrolled in a robotics class at school so that she can rebuild the animatronics. Abby’s robotic class is working on building robots to enter into a science competition that is being held on the same night as a festival celebrating the legacy of the now-long defunct Freddy’s locations. Abby isn’t too good at robotics work, and she is frequently dismissed and belittled by her egomaniacal teacher Mr. Berg (Wayne Knight).

Meanwhile, an aspiring bunch of influencers consisting of Lisa (McKenna Grace), Rob (David Andrew Calvillo) and Alex (Teo Briones) arrive at the long-closed pizzeria. They were invited by a night security guard named Michael (Freddy Carter), who escorts them inside so that they may search for ghosts. It quickly becomes clear that Michael has ulterior motives, as he is fully aware that the pizzeria is haunted by Charlotte in Marionette’s body. Marionette is awakened and attacks the crew. Alex is possessed by Charlotte and reestablishes the wireless connection Marionette used to control the Toy animatronics, Mangle, smaller versions of Marionette, and another animatronic named Balloon Boy. She uses these animatronics to kill Alex and Rob. Charlotte then manages to use a toy radio to communicate with Abby and pretends to be one of the dead children. She tricks Abby into coming to the Pizzeria. Meanwhile, Mike meets Charlotte’s father Henry (Skeet Ulrich) as he is protesting the festival honoring the Freddy’s locations. Henry tells Mike what happened to Charlotte, and gives Mike a music box that used to help Charlotte fall asleep when she was still alive.

Abby mentions her recent discovery of the pizzeria to Vanessa, who freaks out. She was Charlotte’s best friend as a child and is well aware of Charlotte’s powers and her being trapped in Marionette’s body. Vanessa installed a perimeter lock in the location to prevent the animatronics from ever leaving. After Marionette/Charlotte threatens to kill Abby if Vanessa doesn’t free them, Vanessa deactivates the perimeter locks. The animatronics all leave the pizzeria (cameo by Cory Williams (aka Coryxkenshin)), with Toy Chica going with Abby to her school where Abby uses the animatronic to win the contest (and Toy Chica kills Mr. Berg for insulting Abby). Meanwhile, Mike and Vanessa reunite to try and stop any impending carnage and to find and save Abby. Mike is angry that Vanessa never told him about the pizzeria or Charlotte. They manage to survive attacks by the “withered” versions of the animatronics that Marionette activates (which are beat up versions of the animatronics that were used to supply spare parts to the main ones). They eventually deactivate the Toy animatronics before they kill anyone. The pair then track Abby back to Mike’s home, where they find that she’s been possessed by Charlotte. They free Abby from the possession after Vanessa stands up to her old friend and Mike uses the music box to temporarily force Charlotte’s soul to rest.

The Toy animatronics suddenly reactivate, and are discovered to now be controlled by Michael. It turns out that Michael is William’s son/Vanessa’s brother. He is trying to continue the murderous work started by their dad. Vanessa rejects him, so Michael orders the Toy animatronics to kill them all. But they are saved when the original animatronics from the first film arrive and destroy the Toy ones (as Michael flees). Having learned of the peril Abby was in, the murdered children’s souls managed to reassemble the animatronics and come to Mike’s home. But with that deed done, their souls are now moving on to heaven. Before departing, Garrett (Mike and Abby’s brother, who was killed by William and was trapped in the animatronics) warns Mike that they were keeping “him” locked up, but since they are passing on, “he” will be freed. Mike then embraces Abby, but tells Vanessa to leave them alone (blaming her for much of what’s happened as she never revealed the truth about Charlotte and Michael). As Mike and Abby leave the house, a depressed Vanessa gets possessed by Charlotte.

In post credit scenes, the Spring Bonnie suit that contains William Afton’s corpse comes back to life as the malevolent Springtrap. Clearly Springtrap (an animatronic possessed by William) was the “he” the murdered kids referred to in their warning to Mike. A voicemail message is also played where Henry tells Mike that he was William’s business partner and built the animatronics, before the sounds of an attack interrupt the rest of the message.

Order of Deaths: (Lisa is attacked by Marionette and possessed by Charlotte, and her body is later shown lying on the floor in the Pizzeria. However, Abby wasn’t killed despite being possessed by Charlotte, so it’s possible Lisa was not killed but was just unconscious. So I left her off the Death list. But if she is dead, she was killed offscreen by Marionette/Charlotte prior to Alex’s death):

  1. Charlotte – While rescuing a child that she saw abducted by William Afton, she is chased by William in a Spring Bonnie suit. William stabs her several times in the back. She dies in front of the patrons at Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzaria, outraged that nobody helped her save the child.
  2. Alex – Ripped apart limb-from-limb by Mangle.
  3. Rob – He is killed in the water portion of the ride in the Pizzeria when he is overwhelmed by miniature versions of the Marionette (and killed under the water).
  4. Mr. Berg – Toy Chica crushes his head in between her hands
