Pooper:
Rumi finally accepts her part-demon side and confronts the Demon King. Inspired by Rumi’s heroism in defying the Demon King, Mira and Zoey rejoin the band and fight the demons alongside her. Jinu sacrifices himself to help them, and with the support of humanity, Rumi, Mira, and Zoery create a new Honmoon shield that banishes the demons and their king from the Earth.

Long Ending:
Long ago, demons would cross the barrier from their dimension to Earth in order to eat human souls and send the human’s lifeforce to the Demon King (voiced by Lee Byung-Hun). Three magical musician-warriors joined forces to fight the demons. Their songs inspired humankind and, with the support of their fans’ spiritual energy, the musicians were able to build a spiritual shield called a Honmoon that impeded the ability of demons to travel to Earth. Over the years, new demon hunting musical trios replaced the retiring ones and strengthened the Honmoon with their songs. The newest trio is a band called Huntr/x, comprised of Mira (voiced by May Hong, singing voice Audrey Nuna), Zoey (voiced by Ji-young Yoo, singing voice Rei Ami), and lead singer Rumi (voiced by Arden Cho, singing voice EJAE). Huntr/x has become a global sensation. They believe that with a few more hit songs they will amass enough spiritual support from their fans to create the Golden Honmoon – a spiritual shield so strong that it will seal the demons away forever.

The Demon King grows frustrated that none of his demons have destroyed Huntr/x. A demon named Jinu (voiced by Ahn Hyo-seop, singing voice Andrew Choi) proposes that he start a boy band to compete with Huntr/x. If they become more popular and turn humanity into their fans, they can use the spiritual power to destroy the Honmoon. In exchange, the Demon King will erase Jinu’s unhappy memories that have tortured him ever since he turned from a human into a demon. The Demon King agrees. Jinu and some other demons adopt human forms, travel to Earth, and create a band named the Saja Boys. With their supernatural powers and catchy hooks, the Saja Boys rocket up the music charts. Soon, the Saja Boys rival Huntr/x’s popularity and they weaken the Honmoon. They also successfully defy all of Huntr/x’s attempts to destroy them.

Ultimately, Huntr/x and the Saja Boys are scheduled to take place in a musical battle that is globally televised. Each side knows that if they win, they will have enough spiritual energy to accomplish their goals. Unfortunately, Rumi loses her voice due to the fact that she is… secretly a half demon. Her mother (a former demon hunter) had a relationship with a demon that led to Rumi’s birth (and her mother’s premature death). Not even Mira and Zoey know this secret as Rumi’s adoptive mom (also a former demon hunter) forced Rumi to hide her parentage. As the demons grow more powerful, her own demonic nature rises to the surface and interferes with her singing. Rumi becomes more desperate to defeat the demons once and for all, hoping that the Golden Honmoon will also banish her own demonic nature.

During a battle, Jinu realizes that Rumi is part-demon. He covertly reaches out to her and they begin meeting (initially with each hoping to find a way to destroy the other). Jinu explains that 400 years ago, he was poor and starving. He sold his soul to the Demon King so that he and his family could become wealthy, and eventually turned into a demon as part of the deal. Jinu explains that most demons are simply sad and, like him, tortured by the shame of their deals with the devil. Jinu helps Rumi understand that being part-demon does not ultimately make her a bad person. And she does her best to convince Jinu that he can still find salvation. Rumi swears to help Jinu break his ties to the Demon King if he will help Huntr/x win the showdown. The two eventually also declare their love for each other as each ended up helping the other face their fears.

At the battle of the bands, Huntr/x begins an incredible performance. But Jinu betrays them and he and the Saja Boys reveal to Mira and Zoey that Rumi is part-demon. Huntr/x break up over the revelation, and the Saja Boys win the contest. Jinu later explains to Rumi that he hadn’t been fully truthful. His deal with the Demon King was not made to save his family, just made to save himself. The memories that have tortured him for 400 years are those of abandoning his family to live a life of wealth and fame. Jinu doesn’t believe he can ever be forgiven for his betrayal. Using the spiritual power gained from winning the competition, the Saja Boys break the Honmoon. The Demon King arrives on Earth and hypnotizes humanity (including Mira, Zoey, and even Huntr/X’s devoted manager Bobby (voiced by Ken Jeong). The demons plan to devour all of humanity’s souls at a concert later that night. Meanwhile, Rumi runs off to confront her adoptive mother over how their lies tore the band apart. During their argument, Rumi decides that even if her mother will never accept her demonic nature, thanks to Jinu, she now does. She then swears to defeat the Demon King.

As the demons prepare to devour the souls of all humanity, Rumi arrives and defiantly sings while bearing her demonic nature for all to see. Her act of bravery inspires the crowd and breaks the hypnosis. Mira and Zoey reunite with Rumi and they begin decimating the demons while singing a new song from the depths of their hearts. The Demon King shoots a giant blast of fire at Rumi, but Jinu jumps in the way to protect her with his own body. As he dies, Jinu explains that she inspired him and gives Rumi his spiritual energy. All of the humans watching then lend their spiritual strength to Huntr/X. With that power, the band manages to create a new Honmoon and the Demon King is banished once again (although it is not a Golden Honmoon). The members of Huntr/X reconcile and vow to continue their work of keeping the Earth safe from demons while being a kick-ass K-pop band.
