SHELTER

Synopsis

Michael Mason (Jason Statham) is a former black ops soldier that faked his death after refusing to kill a defecting Iranian scientist. Living alone with a dog on an isolated island, he is given supplies by Jessie (Bodhi Rae Breathnach) and her uncle. However, after a storm kills her uncle and injures Jessie, Mason is forced to help her.

His attempts to get her care get him flagged by the government as a terrorist and he is forced to kill a squad of soldiers and go on the run with Jessie. As the new head of MI6 Roberta (Naomi Ackie) tries to bring him in, his former handler Manafort (Bill Nighy) tries to have him killed, activating an agent Workman (Bryan Vigier) who leaves a trail of bodies in his wake.

Mason is able to get a new identity for Jessie and sees her off as Workman attacks. After a final failed attempt to reach him, Mason kills him. Mason goes to Manafort’s home and confronts him for his lawless ways and kills him to ensure Jessie’s safety.

Three months later, Jessie is living in Spain, under watch by Roberta and MI6, knowing Mason will surface eventually. Mason discreetly sends her a bag with a chess piece to let her know he’s alive. As Jessie looks around for him, Mason has already disappeared again, content in the knowledge that she is safe.
