Pooper:
After stumbling upon an abandoned church whose worshippers developed a method of merging two lovers into one body, engaged couple Tim and Millie are unknowingly exposed to the method and their bodies try to merge with each other. Each initially considers death by suicide to save the other, but ultimately they decide to go through with the process so they can always be together and merge into one being.

Long Ending:
Millie (Alison Brie) is a successful teacher who gets a new job in the countryside. At a going away party, she proposes to her longtime boyfriend Tim (Dave Franco). He says yes and reluctantly agrees to join her on the move. Despite being in his late 30s, Tim has no job, no driver’s license, and still is trying to make it big with his rock band. And despite being newly engaged, the couple are strained and haven’t had sex in months.

After an awkward adjustment period where the pair continue to grow more distant, Tim suggests they go for a hike through the nearby woods. It soon begins storming and they get hopelessly lost. They follow an overgrown path to a clearing where Millie and Tim accidentally fall through a pit and into a cavern full of discarded church furniture. They decide to spend the night and try to figure out how to escape in daylight. Tim tells Millie a story he’d never told anyone. As a teen, his father died unexpectedly. The sudden death caused his mother to go insane and she simply pretended her husband hadn’t died and slept next to his corpse. This ended only after Tim smelled the decomposition and found his father’s corpse. That night, Tim drinks water from a cavern pool and has bizarre dreams. When the pair awaken, Millie and Tim’s legs are stuck to the others and they have to forcefully pull them apart (Tim says it must be mildew). They then manage to climb out of the cavern and return home.

Over the next couple weeks, Tim has an uncontrollable urge to be with Millie. When she leaves to go to work or to drop him at a train station, he blacks out and his body forces its way to her. In his sleep, Tim tries to eat Millie’s hair. Tim consults a doctor who prescribes him muscle relaxing pills, saying that until he gets psychological help this will prevent his body from acting independently of his mind. Millie begins second guessing their relationship, but the pair have sex at her job when he shows up one day. Thereafter, her body begins forcing her to be close to Tim.

Tim suggests they go back to the Church to investigate, but Millie denies anything strange is happening and says she is done with him. But that night, as they sleep in separate rooms, their bodies force them out of their rooms to meet in the hallway. There, the pair’s arms touch and begin to merge into one singular arm. They manage to grab the muscle relaxers and swallow all of them. This allows the pair to partially, but not fully, un-merge their arms. The next morning, they use an electric saw to cut through the remaining skin enveloping their arms together.

Wanting to go to the hospital, Millie realizes she left her car keys at her neighbor/co-worker’s (Damon Herriman) house. She goes there to find him eagerly awaiting her arrival. The neighbor explains that he used to be part of the church in the woods (before it collapsed into the cavern) and that they found a way to literally merge two people together. He himself is the end product of two men who got married and purposefully merged. He explains that soul mates are meant to be fully merged and that they will find nothing but happiness if they let it happen. But the neighbor also says there is no stopping this process and, that if they delay the merger, things could end poorly. Millie tries to flee, but the neighbor slits her arm (saying the wound will hasten the merger). Meanwhile, Tim ventures to the church where he finds a monstrous beast comprised of two people that tried to resist the merger. The beast begs Tim to kill it as he flees back home.

Millie and Tim arrive home at the same time. Tim declares his love and proposes to Millie, saying that his past trauma kept him from committing fully to her. But he realizes now that she is everything he wanted in life. To spare Millie from the merging, he takes out a knife and prepares to kill himself. Millie reciprocates his love before collapsing from her arm wound, telling Tim to let her die so he might live his life freely. However, she recovers to find that Tim saved her by merging their arms together. The pair reiterate their love, strip naked, and allow themselves to merge into one being.
