After a drug deal gone wrong set up by his brother Boots (Owen Teague), Kip (Josh Hartnett) who had to kill two men to save him, decides to shut down the family opioid business. However, their sister Josie (Margarita Levieva) refuses to give it up, feeling they have nothing else.

A desperate Josie murders Boots’ friend Cooper (Chandler Riggs) by purposely overdosing him, silencing the only other witness from that day. When Kip figures out what she has done, he goes to Tedd Wallace (Brad William Henke), a local man whose wife died due to their pills offering “Repentance.” Kip lures Josie to the local mill and allows Tedd to beat her to death in revenge for his wife.

Sheriff Knox (Dash Mihok) arrives at their home and Kip tells him that he will find a rifle in Josie’s car, linking her to the killings. Knox doesn’t believe it, but Kip says he will, or he will reveal his infidelity between him and his sister to the town.

Kip leaves the life of dealing, and his girlfriend has their daughter, getting by with honest work. Sadly, he realizes that Boots is still dealing. The film ends with Kip silently accepting that Boots will probably get himself killed one day but he has ultimately made his choice even after everything the family has suffered.
